Olea europaea is an attractive slow-growing evergreen of Mediterranean origin  Its leaves are leathery and lance-shaped that are dark green Edible olives are produced in just one to two years.

Plant in free-draining soil that will not become waterlogged during the wetter parts of the year

olives are tolerant of both acidic and alkaline soils.

Prefer the sunniest position possible, ideally south or west facing with some protection from the north and east winds

Prune between winter’s end and flowering, prune olive trees in spring or in early summer once the tree begins to open its flower buds
